About this Recipe

This shish kabob is made with chunks of marinated Wagyu beef, mushrooms, and vegetables and cooked on the grill. The recipe is so delicious that I think everyone should have a chance to experience it!

This recipe takes some time to prepare, but most of it is hands-off time while the beef and mushrooms are marinating in the refrigerator for ultimate flavor. Then, skewer them up with bell peppers and onions and grill until nicely browned. Baste the skewers while grilling with the leftover marinade mixed with olive oil.

Of course you can substitute and/or add other vegetabless such as, zuchinni and squash.

You can also cook just the marinated beef cubes without any vegetables.

Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 2 Pounds top sirloin steak (cut into 1-inch cubes)
  • 1 large green bell pepper (cut into chunks)
  • 1 large red bell pepper (cut into chunks)
  • 2 medium red onions (cut into large squares)
  • 16 mushroom caps
  • 1 Dozen metal skewers
  • 1 gallon ZipLoc plastic bag
  • 1/4 cup olive oil

Marinade

  • 1/2 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Colman’s dry mustard
  • 1 teaspoon fresh cracked black pepper

Step 1

Combine the marinade ingredients and mix well. Cut the beef into cubes. Place the beef cubes, mushrooms into a 1 gallon Zip Lok bag, pour over the marinade and seal the bag excluding most of the air. Shake the bag to fully coat the cubes. Place the bag in a refrigerator for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.

Step 2

Cube and square the vegetables. Remove the beef cubes and mushroom caps from the marinade. Pour the leftover marinade into a small saucepan and stir in the olive oil. Bring the liquid to a boil and then set aside for basting.

Step 3

Pre-heat your grill. Meanwhile assemble the cubed ingredients in sequence on the metal skewers.

Step 4

Adjust your grill for a medium temperature and lightly oil the grill. The correct temperature is one that will fully cook the beef in about 15 minutes without burning and or major flare-ups.

Step 5

Cook the skewers, basting with the marinade and oil mixture, and turning frequently. When done the beef should be well browned on all sides and no longer pink in the center, about 15 minutes. The bell peppers should be soft, onions translucent and mushrooms skrunken.
